Sky-Li
When people listen to Sky Li's music, she wants to take them on a journey. She wants to take them far away into the bittersweet landscape of northern Sweden and into beautiful forests. There, the melancholic chord progressions and choirs represent the mysterious mist, and the melodies and sense of freedom represent all the valleys and mountains.
The lyrics carry a story. It's an excerpt from her own life because Sky Li strongly believes in authenticity. She wants the listeners to feel something when they hear her music — for it to become a kind of extension of their own emotions and thoughts. That’s why everything Sky Li creates as a songwriter and producer has to be personal and part of her own life chapters. It has to feel genuine, because that’s where the real emotion comes through, she believes.
That’s why she has focused a lot on the actual work itself, rather than all the flashy things around it. Sky Li believes one can create so much from very little. This has been proven through her self-written and self-produced debut album "Her" from 2023, which she created in her simple studio that stands in her living room.
The title track "Her" got over 1 million streams within a year and took Sky Li to both the Denniz Pop Awards and earned her an Annele scholarship. It's an album she wanted to let live its own life — in other words, she allowed herself to be a bit more experimental.
After creating the album, she realized how much she thrives in the experimental world — because it makes her feel free and boundless, just like a vast and open landscape.
