Slowgold

Slowgold is the stage name of Amanda Werne, a Swedish musician and songwriter from Gothenburg. Sometimes, the name also refers to the band, which includes bassist Johannes Mattsson and drummer Erik Berntsson.

Slowgold’s emotionally charged and poetic fusion of dreamy rock, Neil Young-style rawness, and tense post-punk is truly unique. This distinct sound is further enhanced by Amanda Werne’s mesmerizing vocal presence and exceptional guitar skills.

The album Aska is the result of a feeling that has lingered for years, maturing through her recent self-produced records. Its musical references trace back to Amanda’s upbringing, and the album serves in part as a reflection on Slowgold’s journey.

Slowgold has previously released six studio albums, including a live album. In 2018, she won a Grammis for the album Mörkare in the Best Folk/Singer-Songwriter category.
