Viktor Norén
Viktor Norén is a Swedish musician with an impressive and multifaceted career. From a young age, he displayed a deep passion for music, a passion that has shaped his life and led him on an exciting journey across different genres and collaborations.
Norén’s musical career took off in his teenage years when he, alongside his brother Carl and friend Kristian Gidlund, formed the band Sugarplum Fairy. In 2004, they had their breakthrough with the single Sweet Jackie, which topped the charts in both Germany and Japan. The band toured extensively across Europe and released three albums before disbanding in 2013, following the tragic passing of Kristian Gidlund.
After Sugarplum Fairy, Norén took a new direction and, in 2016, formed the pop group State of Sound. With a background in electronic music, the group brought a new dimension to Norén’s sound. They achieved major success with songs like Higher Love and Wake Up Where You Are and have also written and produced music for other artists, including Dagny, Bruno Martini, and Linnéa Henriksson.
Alongside State of Sound, Norén has explored other musical paths. He collaborated with his brother Gustaf Norén, known from Mando Diao, releasing the album Hymns To The Rising Sun in 2020. The album, characterized by an organic and folk-inspired sound, showcased Norén’s versatility as an artist.
In 2023 and 2024, Viktor Norén continued to challenge himself musically. He released Det är dig jag har väntat på with Lisa Nilsson in 2023, followed by Sång till min bästa vän with Klara Söderberg, Som en varm kram with Linus Wahlgren, and the Christmas song Stjärnorna lyser för oss with Carola in 2024.
Now, Viktor Norén is entering a new chapter with his upcoming solo album I mina drömmars land, set for release on May 9, 2025. The album, written and produced in collaboration with Andreas Mattsson, promises to be a deeply personal and exciting musical journey.
Viktor Norén’s career has been marked by creativity, curiosity, and a constant search for new challenges and collaborations. His strong sense of melody and ability to navigate different genres have established him as a significant force in Swedish music.
