Koop
From the Do-It-Yourself-School in the highest degree, Koop have paved their own way based on a feeling and idea of how they wanted to create music. Four albums to their name they are now a respected act in both the dance DJ scene, the jazz scene and their songs have been heard by millions of people on TV and radio.
When listening to Koop’s music it is somehow easy to believe that it is played by a small orchestra, but in fact the music is based on samples: thousands of small clips from records puzzled together into new songs. All the drums, strings, horn sections and choirs are actually sampled! This is a very time consuming way to make music (it's one of the reasons it takes such long time to make a Koop album), but it's the only way to create the surreal Koop sound. Most of the instruments are played by Koop.
Koop’s music has been used in various TV shows, films, and advertisement including Coca-Cola commercials with the single “Strange Love” which features the Norwegian Jazz vocalist and comedian Hilde Louise Asbjørnsen.
Koop is Oscar Simonsson & Magnus Zingmark.
